High-level talks elevate Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations

During his visit to Kuwait, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Sheikh Fahd al-Sabah, the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Kuwait, at his designated residence. The meeting was also attended by Kuwaiti officials, including Finance and Investments Minister Noura Suleiman al-Fassam, Trade and Industry Minister Khalifa Abdullah al-Askar, and Director of the Investment Agency Sheikh Saud al-Sabah, according to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

The discussions centered on implementing agreements from high-level talks held earlier. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the productive meeting between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kuwait, which elevated bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive partnership.

A key focus was on preparing for the upcoming visit of the Emir of Kuwait to Uzbekistan for the Central Asia - Gulf Cooperation Council summit. Prioritizing the development of trade, economic, and investment ties, both sides emphasized the importance of establishing a Joint Investment Platform and a Business Council to support projects in agriculture, logistics, hydropower, infrastructure, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and other key sectors.

Additionally, it was agreed to organize active dialogues and mutual visits to advance cooperation programs outlined in the "Roadmap."

President Mirziyoyev also held discussions with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah al-Yahya in Al-Kuwait City. The talks focused on maintaining active political dialogue and expanding trade, economic, investment, and financial cooperation between the two nations.

The leaders reiterated their commitment to fostering a comprehensive partnership and agreed to conduct regular consultations between foreign policy departments while preparing for the "Central Asia - Gulf Cooperation Council" summit in Samarkand.

"The visit also saw the signing of a new cooperation program with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, which was highly commended by both sides. Special attention was given to promoting projects in food security, industrial cooperation, infrastructure, tourism, and establishing direct air links between the countries," the report states.

Following the conclusion of negotiations at the Al-Bayan Palace in Kuwait City, a ceremonial reception was held in honor of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, attended by heads of diplomatic missions in Kuwait.
