On March 13, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Speaker of the French National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, at the Bourbon Palace in Paris. This was reported by the President’s press service.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further expand interparliamentary exchanges between their countries. The historical significance of this visit, as well as the establishment of strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and France, was highlighted with great satisfaction.

“The head of the lower house of the French Parliament highly praised the democratic reforms underway in Uzbekistan, the role of representative bodies, the strengthening of rights for women, children, youth, and persons with disabilities, as well as the guarantees of environmental safety,” the report stated.

The discussion also covered the organization of the Uzbekistan-France Interparliamentary Forum and the resumption of friendship groups' activities, based on a "road map."

President Mirziyoyev invited Speaker Braun-Pivet to Uzbekistan to participate in the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Tashkent in April this year.

At the end of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev signed the Book of Honorary Guests.

It is worth recalling that on March 12, President Mirziyoyev and French President Emmanuel Macron adopted a joint declaration on establishing a strategic partnership. During this visit, President Mirziyoyev was also awarded France's highest honor, the Order of the Legion of Honor.
