Mirziyoyev to visit Kazakhstan tomorrow

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will pay a working visit to Astana tomorrow, June 17, to participate in the second summit in the "Central Asia–China" format. This was reported by the presidential press service.

The event will be attended by the heads of state of the region and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. Issues related to the further development of multilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres will be discussed, and views will be exchanged on pressing regional and international matters. At the conclusion of the summit, joint documents are expected to be adopted.

Within the framework of the summit, the President of Uzbekistan will also hold a bilateral meeting with the President of China.

It should be noted that the first summit in this format was held in Xi’an, China, in May 2023, with the goal of strengthening partnership relations between the countries of Central Asia and China, as well as expanding practical cooperation.

Let us recall that today, on June 16, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, arrived in Kazakhstan. The Chinese leader’s plane was escorted from the Kazakh border to the capital’s airport by fighter jets of Kazakhstan’s Air Defense Forces.
