In May, the inflation rate rose to 1 percent.  This is even higher than the index of last year.  The president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized the activity of governors (khokims) during a video-conference devoted to measures to ensure the uninterrupted supply of food, including livestock and poultry stating the case above.

“Restrictions on food and rising prices are intensifying day by day all over the world.  Of course, this affects us as well.  However, not all governors of regions (oblasts), districts, and cities correctly assess the situation in the world and organize their work correctly.  This is evidenced by the prices in our markets.  In particular, the inflation rate in May rose to 1%.  This is even higher than the index of last year”, - Mirziyoyev said.

According to the statement of the president, the rise in world prices for wheat was 50%, vegetable oil increased by 33%, sugar by 14%, and oil by 47%, this has had a direct impact on the rise of prices in Uzbekistan.

«In this situation, governors should mobilize all their domestic resources and work twice as hard to fill markets with products, and most importantly with food.  However, many governors ignored the price and lost control», - Mirziyoyev stated.

In addition, the Head of State also instructed all governors within three days to examine the level of supply of basic products in all neighborhoods and villages and, if necessary, to accelerate delivery from other regions (oblasts).
