Mirziyoyev holds a telephone conversation with Aliyev

On 23 August, president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and strengthening of strategic partnership relations were discussed.

It was noted with satisfaction the significant progress made in the implementation of the agreements reached at the June summits.

The regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the first meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Transport and Trade of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey were successfully held in early August.

This year mutual trade has increased by 70 percent.  Joint cooperation projects have been initiated in agriculture, silk and textile industries, engineering, chemistry, and other sectors. Work is underway to launch the Uzbek-Azerbaijani investment fund as soon as possible. Cultural and humanitarian exchange is expanding” - the press service of the president of Uzbekistan said.

The Heads of State stressed the need to further develop practical cooperation.  In this regard, it is important to hold a regional forum and an exhibition of the industrial potential of the two countries next fall.

There was also an exchange of views on the regional agenda.  The plan and agenda for future multilateral meetings, including the summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, were considered.

As always, the telephone conversation between the presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan took place in a frank, sincere and friendly atmosphere.
