President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening ceremony of the first international multisport competition, "Future Games," in Kazan, Russia, on February 21. This was reported by the President's press service.

Also in attendance at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center were President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Qasim-Jomart Tokaev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadir Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and other foreign guests.

Participants were treated to a video and theatrical presentation showcasing the sports included in the "Future Games" program.

Mirziyoyev extended his best wishes to the participants and proposed hosting the 2026 "Future Games" in Uzbekistan.

Following the ceremony, dignitaries explored a special exhibition featuring the concept of "phygital-sport," which combines competitions in the virtual space with traditional sports. They observed cyber sports competitions, engaged in physical-football training, and viewed examples of fine art and presentations outlining the current development and future prospects of this new sports direction.

After his visit to Kazan, Mirziyoyev was escorted to the international airport named after Abdulla Tokai by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, before departing for Tashkent.

For reference, "Future Games" is a high-tech competition featuring simultaneous events in traditional sports and their digital counterparts. The event will run from February 21 to March 3 this year, with approximately 300 teams from over 100 countries, including representatives from Uzbekistan, participating. Uzbek athletes will compete in physical hockey, virtual cycling, and sports programming.
