Today, October 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Tashkent region to review ongoing development projects, assess the lives of residents, and explore new initiatives. His first stop was Tashkent district, according to a report from the Presidential Press Service.

Previously, the district lacked a central hub. However, the construction of new buildings and complexes along Keles Road has transformed the area’s appearance. The main street has been expanded and reconstructed, and new structures such as a State Services Center, Youth Center, Palace of Culture, Amphitheater, Universal Sports Complex, Memorial Square, and Park have been erected.

"Forty-one high-rise residential buildings have replaced the old, low-rise structures. More than 11,000 people now reside in 2,536 of the new apartments. Additionally, 270 retail, catering, and financial service businesses are being established in the basements and on the first floors of these buildings. This will create employment for 1,350 people, including local youth and women," the report detailed.

The project places significant emphasis on enhancing social infrastructure. Key facilities such as a central hospital, an inter-district perinatal center, a kindergarten, an "Inson" social service center, and a district history museum have been launched.

Drinking water, a long-standing issue in the area has been addressed with the construction of four basins and the installation of 365 kilometers of pipelines, funded by the Asian Development Bank. As a result, clean drinking water is now available to residents of 36 neighborhoods. Over the past three years, 218 kilometers of internal roads have been repaired and paved, with further work underway.

During the visit, officials presented a report on entrepreneurship development, employment creation, and poverty alleviation in the Tashkent region. In the first six months of this year, the district's economy grew by 23 percent. Tax revenues have increased due to new constructions and enterprises. Tashkent district, home to 70 neighborhoods and 62,000 families, has identified 372 families in need, with measures in place to provide support.

By the end of the year, it is expected that 34,443 new jobs will be created through ongoing projects and employment programs. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to leverage household opportunities and encourage entrepreneurs to hire individuals from impoverished families.

"Tashkent district is close to our capital and has great potential for housing, production, commerce, and services. With proper organization, poverty should not exist in this district. We must transition from poverty to prosperity by maximizing the opportunities available within the economic complex and neighborhoods," said President Mirziyoyev.

By year-end, industrial growth in the district is expected to reach 9 percent, with services projected to grow by 13 percent. Additionally, exports are expected to increase, with the target set at $100 million.
