The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced today on November 27 the projects being implemented in collaboration with the leading Saudi company "ACWA Power." These projects include the connection of a modern steam-gas power plant with a capacity of 1500 megawatts to the network in the Syrdarya region and the implementation of "green hydrogen" in a "pilot" manner in the Tashkent region. President Mirziyoyev participated in the ceremony marking the commencement of the construction of production facilities, as reported by the Presidential Press Service.

The thermal power plant project in Syrdarya, valued at $1.1 billion, is expected to meet the electricity needs of more than 3 million households and hundreds of industrial enterprises.

"For the first time in our region, a unique enterprise for the production of 'green hydrogen' is being established. Within the framework of this 'pilot' project, 3,000 tons of hydrogen will be produced in our country at the first stage and processed into mineral fertilizers. Additionally, a 52-megawatt wind power plant will be built," stated the President's press service.

It is noteworthy that major energy projects totaling $7.5 billion are successfully underway in Uzbekistan with the involvement of the "ACWA Power" company. The launch of these projects aims to create 25 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, save 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas, and reduce harmful substance emissions into the atmosphere by 3 million tons.
