On April 7, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The meeting was reported by the Presidential Press Service.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated Valentina Matvienko on her 76th birthday, wishing her good health, happiness, and continued success.

In turn, the Speaker of the Federation Council expressed her sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The sides discussed prospects for further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.

The meeting highlighted, "The effectiveness of interparliamentary cooperation and stressed the importance of maintaining active parliamentary oversight over the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level."

Special attention was also given to supporting the ongoing pace of trade and economic collaboration, promoting industrial cooperation projects, and expanding humanitarian exchange programs.

For reference, Valentina Matvienko is leading the Russian delegation at the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, currently being held in Tashkent.
