A total of 816,023 square metres of roads in Tashkent will be repaired. The main works are planned to begin in the first ten days of March, once weather conditions stabilise, the city administration’s press service reported.

Heavy rainfall has damaged road surfaces in several streets, causing potholes. This has been attributed to the use of anti-icing chemicals, prolonged precipitation and high humidity. Water entered small cracks in the asphalt, weakening the upper layer and the road base. The problem has been observed mainly on older roads nearing the end of their service life.

A survey of the street and road network has been conducted and a list of areas requiring repairs has been compiled. Reconstruction will be carried out across a total area of 816,023 square metres, including:

Roads under district administrations — 609,673 m²
Central streets (under a specialised authority) — 206,350 m²

By district:

  • Bektemir — 53,160 m²
  • Mirzo Ulugbek — 50,471 m²
  • Mirobod — 52,287 m²
  • Olmazor — 48,087 m²

  • Yakkasaray — 51,000 m²
