Central Asian Energy Ministers meet in Tashkent

On 13 February 2026, a regular working meeting of the ministers responsible for energy and water management from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan was held in Tashkent, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reported.
The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamahmudov and Water Resources Minister Shavkat Khamroyev, Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaybek Ibrayev, Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma.
Officials said the talks also included the heads of energy companies and relevant specialists. During the negotiations, participants emphasized that the multilateral cooperation launched in recent years at the initiative of the leaders of the friendly neighboring states has been developing steadily and effectively across multiple areas, including the fuel and energy sector.
The meeting discussed preparations for the 2026 autumn–winter season, ensuring stable and uninterrupted operation of water and energy systems during the irrigation season, and further deepening cooperation. The sides also agreed on schedules for the operating regimes of their networks.
Earlier, a Kyrgyz lawmaker said Uzbekistan should pay for water.
