Central Asian countries have allocated water for the 2023 season.  This was reported by “Asia-Plus”.

According to the limit, in one year (from 1 October 2022 to 1 October 2023), the water intake from the Amudarya basin should be 55.4 billion cubic meters, of which 15.7 billion will fall on the non-vegetation period (1 October 2023 until April).

Under this agreement, Uzbekistan will recieve about 23.6 billion cubic meters of water from the Amudarya, Tajikistan will recieve 9.8 billion cubic meters, and Turkmenistan will recieve 22 billion cubic meters.

The limit of water intake from the Syrdarya basin is 4.2 billion cubic meters.  From this, Tajikistan will recieve 365 million cubic meters, Uzbekistan 3.3 billion, Kazakhstan 452 million, and Kyrgyzstan 47 million cubic meters.

It is noted that during the growing season of 2022, the amount of water in the Amudarya basin was quite uncertain: from April-May, it was within the normal range, but from June it decreased to 85-65% and remained below normal until the end of the period.

In the current water management conditions, the total water used in the basin was 79.1% of the total limit, including 95.3% in Tajikistan, 83.3% in Turkmenistan, and 68.7% in Uzbekistan.

From 1 April to 30 September 2022, the limit of water intake from the Syrdarya basin was 11.8 billion cubic meters, and it was 10.1 billion cubic meters.
