Over 46 trillion soums are set to be allocated to schools and school education for the current year, as stated by the President. The announcement was made during a meeting on February 5, discussing the priorities for 2024 in education, healthcare, digitization, culture, and sports, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President emphasized the need for improvement in the field of education, citing the 2022 PISA international program results. A new assessment system was implemented in 500 schools to evaluate real knowledge levels, revealing areas that require further attention.
Currently, less than half of the students in grades 1-11 can achieve the "B1" level in a foreign language, utilizing the allocated 984 hours. The President highlighted the lack of visibility in the activity of training centers in certain regions during the meeting.
The meeting outlined tasks to expedite reforms in school education, including the establishment of the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center last year. Additionally, a Project Office was formed, bringing together experienced personnel to collaborate with relevant ministries in updating curricula, programs, and educational methods based on international standards.
Recognized foreign programs like A-level and IB, along with international assessments such as PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS, are gradually being incorporated. This aims to enhance students' knowledge, analytical, critical, and creative thinking, solving problems, and applying practical skills.
In the coming year, the educational program of the President's schools will be introduced in an additional 1,000 schools. Mayors are entrusted with the responsibility of enhancing the material and technical infrastructure to support this initiative.
