In Uzbekistan, responsibility for disrespect, insult, damage, and abuse of cultural heritage has been established.  This is reported by the press service under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament).

On 26 August, the issue of supplementing the Code of Administrative Responsibility by the article 64¹ was considered at the meeting of the Senate Committee on Information Policy and Issues of Ensuring Transparency in State Bodies.

Disrespect for objects of tangible cultural heritage, that is, desecration or damage of objects of material cultural heritage by writing, drawing, objects of material cultural heritage, including the performance of actions, denigrating or ridiculing their historical, scientific, artistic, or particular cultural values, as well as the commission of acts that disturb public order with regard to objects of tangible cultural heritage, is recognized as an administrative offense and liability is determined in this respect.

In addition, article 168 of the Criminal Code had been amended to increase the penalties for fraudulent offenses committed using information systems, including information technology.

The law “On Electronic Digital Signature” was also discussed at the meeting.

It is noted that this law allows legal entities to use an electronic digital signature.  At the same time, international electronic digital signatures and non-residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan are allowed to use electronic digital signatures in the provision of State services.

After discussion with the senators, the committee’s expert group, and the initiators of the law adopted a decision.
