Obtaining a residence permit in Uzbekistan through real estate for foreigners cheapens

5893The value of real estate required to obtain a residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan with a condition of the acquisition of real estate by citizens of foreign states has been reduced from US$ 400,000 in Tashkent region and Tashkent city to the equivalent of US$ 300,000. This is stated in the decree of the president of Uzbekistan «On further reforms to improve the business environment and create conditions for sustainable economic growth through the development of the private sector».
According to the decree, from 1 May 2022, citizens of foreign states, the list of which is approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, have the right to invest in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the form of acquisition of the following new real estate objects (except land) without requiring a residence permit:
- in Tashkent Region, in the cities of Tashkent and Samarkand – real estate worth at least the equivalent of 150,000 USD according to the contracts issued in the period of construction, at least the equivalent of 180,000 USD in accepted real estate objects;
- in other areas – real estate with a value of at least $70,000 in contracts and at least $85,000 in the equivalent of real estate put into operation.
The acquisition of real estate objects provided in this paragraph is not a ground for foreign citizens to obtain permanent registration and residence permits in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
