5033Deputies and senators who obtain a foreign residence permit will lose their powers. This is stated in the law "On making additions and amendments to certain legal documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan," signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The law broadens the conditions for the early termination of a deputy's or senator's powers:
- Engaging in paid activities other than scientific, creative, or educational work after a warning if they work permanently in the Senate.
- Failing to participate in the relevant chamber, political party faction, committee, or commission for 30 or more working days in a year without a valid reason.
- Obtaining a permanent residence certificate or another document confirming permanent residence in a foreign country.
- Leaving the political party they represented when elected as a deputy on the party list.
For violations of etiquette by a deputy or senator, the following measures are specified:
- Issuing a warning.
- Requiring an apology.
- Publicly announcing and broadcasting the etiquette violation.
- Withholding part of the salary of a deputy or senator working permanently in the Senate.
- Prematurely terminating the deputy's or senator's powers.
These measures also apply to people's deputies of regional, district, and city councils.
Moreover, if a deputy or senator permanently working in the Senate misses meetings of the relevant chamber, political party faction, or committee without a valid reason, one day's salary will be deducted for each absence.
The law became effective on July 4.
