Families of migrant workers abroad will be allocated money in Uzbekistan

The Decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On additional measures of support to citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan and members of their families temporarily working abroad» was adopted on 1 March of the current year.

In accordance with the Decision, from 1 June 2022 the institute of representation of the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations will be introduced in the respective regions of the Kazakhstan (12 regions), Russian Federation, and Turkey.

At least two representatives will be assigned to each of these regions.
Since 1 May 2022, on the basis of a written submission by the Assistant Governor:

- one-off material assistance in the amount of 2 Basic Calculation Amount (1 BCA-540 thousand sums) will be provided to families whose breadwinners have left abroad and are registered in the information system «Unified Register of Social Protection»;

- family members with disabilities registered in the information system «Unified Register of Social Protection» or included in one of «Iron Book», «Women’s Book» and «Youth Book» will receive one-time financial assistance in the amount of 5 BCA (1 million 350,000 sums) for medicines, wheelchairs, hearing aids and orthopedic devices;

- members of the families of migrant workers who have reached the retirement age or who have category I or II disabilities will be provided with one-time free-of-charge stays in sanatoriums and health-care institutions in the trade union system.
In addition, on the written recommendation of youth leaders of local regions, children of citizens registered in the information system «Unified Register of Social Protection» or included in one of the «Books» and whose parents are on labor migration will be granted free permits to seasonal camps.

In the provision of assistance and referrals to members of families of citizens who have left to work with the fund of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan:

- pensions, benefits and referrals are provided if the migrant is registered in the Labor Migration Program;
- applicants submit electronic applications to the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations through the software package «Labor Migration».
According to the Decision, in order to support young Uzbeks temporarily working and studying abroad, «Balance of Youth Abroad» will be formed, information on it will be entered on the electronic platform «Youth portal».

Since March 1, 2022, citizens who go abroad for temporary work in the framework of organized labor migration included in one of the «privileged books» will also receive microloans in the amount of up to 10 million sum for one year.
Also, the compensations will be paid for followings until 1 January 2023:

• to cover the costs associated with applying the qualifying exams in foreign languages or professions, if they are successfully passed – in the amount of 3 times the BCA (810 thousand sums);
• to purchase a travel ticket – in the amount of 2 times the BCA (540 thousand sums);
• to formalize “Work visa” – 5 times the minimum wage (1 million 350 thousand sums).
