Recent social media reports suggested an asteroid might have struck a house in Khorezm. In response, the Regional Emergency Situations Department issued an official statement clarifying the incident.
At 3:39 AM on May 12, authorities received a report that approximately 10 square meters of the roof of a house in the Bogot district, “Yuksalish” neighborhood, had collapsed.
Emergency teams, including specialized laboratory units from the Internal Affairs and Emergency Situations Departments, inspected the site but found no evidence of celestial objects or explosive materials.
Further examination revealed two propane gas cylinders inside the residence, prompting authorities to launch an official inquiry into the cause of the collapse. A specialized forensic examination has been assigned to determine the exact origin of the event, with results expected soon. No injuries were reported.
Previously, Kosmos-482, a Soviet automated space station launched in 1972, was projected to fall near Uzbekistan but ultimately crashed into the Indian Ocean upon re-entering Earth's atmosphere.
