Official of the agricultural department in Khorezm caught with a bribe

An official of the agricultural department of the Yangiarik district in the Khorezm region was detained for demanding money in exchange for leasing a land plot under the control of the forestry service. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the report, the official demanded 4,000 US dollars from a citizen in exchange for leasing 29 hectares of land located in the district and under the balance of the state institution "Khorezm State Forestry" for a period of 49 years for livestock farming. He also promised to formalize the cadastral documentation using his official connections.

During an urgent operation conducted by the State Security Service in cooperation with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the official was caught red-handed while receiving 3,900 US dollars and 1,297,000 soums in cash as a bribe.

A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 168 (Fraud), Part 2, Subparagraph “a,” and Article 28,211 (Bribery), Part 1 of the Criminal Code. The investigation is currently ongoing.

It should be recalled that earlier, individuals in the Khorezm, Fergana, Tashkent, and Surkhandarya regions were detained for illegally selling land plots for a total amount exceeding 500,000 US dollars.
