An Australian company has proposed establishing production of 600,000 tons of eco-friendly aviation fuel and 50,000 tons of ’’green diesel’’ in the Tuproqqala district of the Khorezm region. The proposal was presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 12 during a briefing on the outcomes of reforms and future plans for the region.

Khorezm, a territory with limited natural resources, is developing its economy through structural transformation. Over the past eight years, the region has attracted $2 billion in investments and launched more than 25,000 industrial enterprises, with production volumes increasing 2.2 times. Today, Khorezm hosts industries in textiles, automotive, electrical equipment, food processing, and construction materials.

The restoration of the Toshsoka main canal has improved the irrigation system, which is crucial for the region, while the construction of a new bridge over the Amu Darya has significantly reduced travel distances for residents.

In the past eight years, 660 apartment buildings have been constructed, providing homes for 21,000 families. Additionally, 4,751 kilometers of drinking water pipelines and 206 kilometers of sewage networks have been built, giving 580,000 residents access to centralized drinking water for the first time.

Since the beginning of this year, 100,000 low-income citizens have been employed, and the poverty rate has fallen from 12 percent in January to 6.8 percent, marking the best result to date.

To further expand such efforts, a “Reforms Headquarters” has been established in the Khorezm region. During the presentation, information was provided on new projects developed based on entrepreneurs’ proposals.

For example, with $100 million in investment from South Korea, a project is planned in the Urganch district to generate electricity through waste incineration.

An Australian company has proposed investing $820 million to produce 600,000 tons of eco-friendly aviation fuel and 50,000 tons of ’’green diesel’’ in the Tuproqqala district. For the needs of the enterprise, the installation of 4 gigawatts of solar panels on 5,500 hectares of land is envisioned.

In addition, a Slovak company plans to invest $170 million to cultivate 5,000 hectares of rapeseed and build a biofuel production plant in the Tuproqqala district.

In total, new projects worth $2.4 billion have been prepared in Khorezm. In addition, promising projects and initiatives worth $86 million have been developed based on the additional capacities of cities and districts.

It was noted that the President gave instructions to facilitate conditions for investors and accelerate the implementation of projects.

’’The industrial zones in the region are not being fully utilized. It is necessary to resolve issues related to infrastructure and land allocation to launch more than 100 projects. Considering Khorezm’s geographical location, it is important to carefully plan industrial directions and fully mobilize the region’s internal potential,’’ the report stated.

The discussion also touched upon the development of entrepreneurship and the reduction of the shadow economy.
