Khayriddin Sulton awarded the title of People’s Writer of Uzbekistan

Khayriddin Madriddinovich Sultonov, Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan and presidential speechwriter, has been awarded the honorary title of People’s Writer of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The corresponding decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on January 19.

The honorary title was conferred in recognition of his many years of effective service in public institutions, his significant contribution to the development of national literature and culture, his distinctive talent and multifaceted creative work, his role in enhancing the nation’s artistic thinking and moral and intellectual potential, and his efforts to enrich Uzbek literature with outstanding works on historical and contemporary themes. The award also acknowledges his contribution to promoting the essence of ongoing reforms among the population, educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and devotion to the ideals of independence, his active participation in socio-political life, and his 70th birthday.

For reference, Khayriddin Sultonov was born on January 15, 1956, in Tuzel village of Qibray district, Tashkent region. From 1963 to 1973, he studied at a secondary school in Parkent. In 1973, he enrolled in the Faculty of Journalism at Tashkent State University and graduated in 1978. Between 1974 and 1980, he worked at Guliston magazine; from 1982 to 1985, at Yoshlik magazine; and during the periods 1980–1982 and 1985–1993, he held various positions at the Gafur Ghulom Literature and Art Publishing House.

Over the years, Khayriddin Sultonov has received several state awards, including the Shuhrat Medal in 1996, the Mehnat Shuhrati Order in 2003, the title of Honored Journalist of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2006, and the Fidokorona Xizmatlari Uchun Order in 2016.
