The prize money for students who win awards in prestigious international science Olympiads will be increased fivefold, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced during a dialogue with young people at the "Kuksaroy" residence on February 14.
During the discussion, the President emphasized the importance of expanding opportunities for young talent and enhancing efforts to support them. As part of this initiative, the amount of the one-time cash prize for winners and prizewinners of international science Olympiads will be significantly increased.
Additionally, the President introduced a new financial support measure for young scholars. Scientists under the age of 35 who have obtained degrees from the world’s top 100 universities will be eligible for interest-free housing loans of up to 800 million sums, payable over a 10-year period.
Previously, students who achieved success in international science Olympiads received a cash prize of 187 million sums. The system of awarding cash prizes to winners has been in place since 2019, with their teachers also receiving a bonus of 168 million sums in recognition of their contributions.
Furthermore, during his speech, President Mirziyoyev announced additional financial assistance for children from low-income families, including an extra grant and partial reimbursement of tuition fees for contract-based students.
These measures are part of broader efforts to support and incentivize young talent in Uzbekistan, ensuring that academic excellence is rewarded and that young scientists have the necessary resources to advance in their careers.
