In a surprising turn of events, Uzbek chess player Nodirbek Abdusattarov emerged victorious against Norwegian Magnus Carlsen in the final round of the “Norway Chess-2023” tournament. This news was reported by the publication “Chess.”

The Norway Chess-2023 super-tournament took place in Stavanger, Norway, spanning from May 29 to June 9. In the decisive round, Abdusattarov faced off against the Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen.

While the main game ended in a draw, Abdusattarov secured the win in the Armageddon tiebreaker. With the conclusion of the 9th round, Abdusattarov amassed a total of 9 points, finishing the competition in 9th place.

The ultimate champion of this tournament was Hikaru Nakamura, representing the United States, while the second-place honor went to another American chess player, Fabiano Caruana. Indian prodigy Gukesh Dommaraju secured the third-place position.

It is worth noting that earlier, Nodirbek Abdusattarov triumphed in the blitz category of the chess prize fund tournament held in Norway, earning a staggering prize pool of $225,000.
