8396In Kokand, at the Indorama Kokand Fertilizers & Chemicals plant, an emergency related to ammonia occurred. During the transfer of liquid ammonia from a tanker wagon to a special container, a hose burst, causing approximately 10% of the ammonia to spill onto the plant premises. The National Guard of the Fergana region provided information about the incident.
According to the plant administration, while the liquid ammonia was being transferred from the wagon into the designated container, a rupture in the hose led to the leakage of about 10% of the ammonia into the facility’s area.
In response, military personnel from the National Guard, along with representatives from the Internal Security Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, quickly arrived at the scene.
All local residents and factory workers were immediately evacuated from the affected area. Approximately 10 individuals sought prompt medical assistance.
At the same time, the roads leading to the plant have been closed to ensure public safety.
An official statement noted, “All available forces and technical equipment have been deployed to extinguish the emergency. The situation is now under close control of law enforcement agencies. The public is requested not to panic or cause unnecessary commotion.”
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the incident took place at 20:30. The ammonia, which had been delivered via a train tanker, was being transferred from the train’s cistern into a dedicated container at the plant, during which a small amount of spillage was observed.
Emergency services and necessary equipment were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the consequences of the incident have since been fully mitigated. Preliminary data indicate that 7 citizens were treated at a hospital. Following medical evaluations, all of them were cleared and allowed to return home.
