Kazakhstan’s president awards Tanzila Norboeva (video) 

On August 18, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan with the order of “Friendship”, second class, the press service of the Oqorda reported.  

From August 18 to 19, a parliamentary delegation led by Norboyeva is visiting Astana at the invitation of Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.  

The Chairwoman of the Senate of Uzbekistan was welcomed by Olga Perepechina, Deputy Chair of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. The parliamentary delegation first laid flowers at the “Defenders of the Fatherland” monument in Astana, a symbol of the courage, resilience, and heroism of the Kazakh people in their struggle for freedom and independence. 

Later, Tanzila Norboyeva held meetings with Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, and Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Majlis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. 

She also met with the President of Kazakhstan. During the conversation, the key issues of Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan strategic partnership and alliance were discussed in the context of developing interparliamentary relations. President Tokayev warmly welcomed the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, emphasizing that her visit to Astana serves as a vivid confirmation of the unique nature of strategic relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. 

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated Tanzila Norboyeva’s personal contribution to strengthening friendship bonds and good-neighborliness between the two nations. 

“Your visit is important from the aspect of strengthening friendly relations between the two countries. We pay a special attention to the development of relations with fraternal Uzbekistan. We consider this necessary to maintain security and stability in the region. The better, closer, and more effective the relations between our countries, the more peaceful the situation in the region will be. As for your visit, I consider it truly important from the perspective of strengthening interparliamentary ties, which is a crucial element of our relations”, the head of State said. 

Tanzila Norboyeva expressed her gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. 

“He asked me to convey his sincere greetings to you and his best wishes for the implementation of the tasks you have set. He also requested that I emphasize that all agreements reached remain under his personal supervision. Naturally, the President’s entire team, including the Parliament, will work to implement them, and tangible results will follow. As you noted, Kazakhstan is Uzbekistan’s closest and most reliable partner, and Uzbekistan is the same for Kazakhstan”, the Chairwoman of the Senate of Uzbekistan said. 

The interlocutors discussed the further development of interparliamentary diplomacy, as well as trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Special attention was given to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties. 

Taking the opportunity, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended his warm regards to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Kazakh leader also awarded Tanzila Norboyeva the order of “Friendship”, second class, in recognition of her tireless efforts to deepen bilateral strategic partnership. 

It is worth noting that in 2022, Tanzila Norboyeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, was awarded the order of “Friendship”by Russian President Vladimir Putin “for her outstanding contribution to strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding between peoples.” The order was presented to Norboyeva by Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, during the plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly held in Samarkand on October 28. At the time, Norboyeva pledged, “We will certainly honor this order”.
