Two checkpoints on the border with Kazakhstan were closed

Two checkpoints of Uzbekistan on the border with Kazakhstan - "Syrdarya" and "S. Najimov" were temporarily closed today, 15 February.  This was reported by the State Customs Committee.

"From 15 February 2023, the customs department of the Syrdarya region "Syrdarya" and the customs department of the Tashkent region including the movement of citizens and light vehicles through the Najimov border customs post, will be temporarily suspended.

It is noted that according to the message received from the Republic of Kazakhstan through diplomatic channels, in connection with the reconstruction of the checkpoints "Kazigurt" ("S. Nazhimov") and "Atameken" ("Syrdarya") of the Republic of Kazakhstan, currently, from 15 February, the movement of pedestrians, buses, cars and trucks with a load capacity of up to 3.5 tons through these posts will be temporarily suspended during the reconstruction period.

Only trucks with a carrying weight of more than 3.5 tons will continue to move through these transfer points.

"As an alternative to these checkpoints, citizens can use the "Gishtkoprik" and "Yallama" checkpoints, which are open around the clock, and the "Malik" and "Oq Oltin" checkpoints, which are open during the day.  We confirm that they can move through it," says the State Customs Committee message.
