Dauletmurat Tajimuratov, the main organizer of the incidents in Karakalpakstan, is arrested

Respect for the honor and dignity of the citizens involved in the investigation of the events in Karakalpakstan is strictly monitored, and torture, violence, and cruel or degrading acts are not permitted.  This is reported by the Office of the Procurator-General of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It is noted that the office of the Procurator-General is conducting a preliminary investigation into a criminal case initiated under article 159, part 4, of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 2 July of the current year in connection with mass disturbances in the Republic of  Karakalpakstan.

“The investigative team of the General Prosecutor’s Office is tasked with identifying all the circumstances of the incidents and carrying out the investigative actions objectively and in strict accordance with the law.

During the investigation, 14 people were detained under Article 227 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

 In particular, D.M.Tajimuratov and A.T.Turdanov were prosecuted under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.  They were sentenced to deprivation of liberty.

L.O. Kallikhanova’s actions revealed signs of a crime against public security. He was listed as a suspect in a criminal case and was detained in a proceeding.

It is noted that investigative actions are being carried out with the full protection of the suspect and the accused, and all the conditions provided by law are ensured in places of detention.  There are no complaints about sanitation and storage conditions.
