News that houses were flooded due to increased pressure in the canal in the Tortkol district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan spread on social networks. The Ministry of Water Management of the Republic of Karakalpakstan reacted to the situation.
It is noted that yesterday, on 24 February, around 3 p.m.-4 p.m., houses and buildings in the area were damaged due to water flooding from the side (dam) of picket 192 in the inter-farm canal "Kalta minor-1" in Tortkol district.
To rectify the situation, working forces and special equipment were mobilized, and at 7:00 a.m. they had managed to completely seal the part of the canal that was releasing water.
It was found that 8 houses and 2.5 hectares of cultivated land were damaged due to water washing and the collapse of the canal banks.
