It is found that pupils are being given food unfit for consumption in Karakalpakstan

It was found that in several schools in the Kegeili district of Karakalpakstan, students are being given food products that are unfit for consumption.  This was reported by the Press Service of Dzhokorgi Kenges.

It is noted that a number of gross errors and shortcomings were discovered by the employees of the regional sanitary epidemiology department during a study of general education schools No. 1-8-19 and No. 55 in Kegeili district.

In particular, the food products given to children are below the required standard, and the conditions for providing them with drinking water and hot tea are not sufficient.

“The most alarming thing is that when the quality of food products was studied, it was found that the apple juice was not suitable for consumption, as well as the packaged products had been damaged by pests.  In addition, these food products are not being delivered by refrigerated or food transport vehicles, but by regular passenger transport.  In addition, a composition of the commission to control the quality of daily food products in various schools has not been established,” the report said.

Currently, it is said that work is ongoing to eliminate the shortcomings identified by the monitoring organizations and action will be taken against the culprits.

“It should be said that educational work is being carried out in all schools of the republic in connection with the fulfillment of children’s nutritional requirements, and strict punishments are being applied to school principals and those responsible,” the report said.
