The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has approved a resolution on adopting two land plots transferred by Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan along the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border in the Osh region. This was reported by 24.kg.
The first plot covers 100 hectares and is located between border markers 312/4 and 312/6 in the Karasuv district. The second plot spans 198.44 hectares and is situated between markers 324 and 328 in the Aravan district.
These decisions are part of the implementation of the law on ratification of the "Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on Certain Sections of the State Border," signed in Bishkek on November 3, 2022.
The State Agency for Land Resources, Cadastre, Geodesy and Cartography of Kyrgyzstan, together with the Presidential Representative in the Osh region, has been tasked with conducting an inventory and state registration of these land plots within a month.
The administrations of the Karasuv and Aravan districts are instructed to allocate these plots free of charge for use by the respective rural (village) districts — Karasuv and Kermeto — and to ensure their proper and targeted use. Funding for the implementation of this decision will come from the local budget.
Once the demarcation of the state border is completed, a new administrative map will be prepared, and amendments will be made to the relevant documentation.
The Department for Monitoring the Implementation of Decisions of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers under the Presidential Administration will oversee the enforcement of this resolution.
The decision will come into force seven days after its official publication.
It is worth recalling that in 2022, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement concerning certain sections of their shared border. Under the agreement, Uzbekistan will receive 4,957 hectares of the Andijan (Kampirabad) reservoir and an additional 19.5 hectares for the maintenance and protection of the dam. In return, Kyrgyzstan will receive 1,019 hectares of pasture land as compensation.
