25 documents worth 1.5 billion dollars were signed between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan

At the end of the negotiations held as part of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan, a ceremony of signing and exchanging documents was held. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.

It was reported that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Sadir Japarov signed a Declaration, which takes bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level - comprehensive strategic partnership.

Interstate, intergovernmental, interdepartmental and interregional documents were exchanged in the presence of the heads of state.  A total of 25 documents were signed, including:

  • Protocol on the exchange of ratifications of the agreement on separate sections of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyz state border;
  • Agreement on cooperation on establishing the production of automobiles and commercial equipment in the Kyrgyz Republic;
  • Program on strategic trade and economic partnership for 2023-2025;
  • Agreement on cooperation in the field of prevention and elimination of emergency situations;
  • Protocol to the agreement on mutual travel of citizens;
  • Protocol on amendments to the memorandum on the establishment of the Council of Heads of Border Regions.

Agreements on cooperation between ministries and departments in the fields of agriculture, energy, customs, development of priority areas of industry, innovation and scientific research, youth support, as well as the establishment of diplomatic relations.  A plan to celebrate the anniversary was signed.

Also, comprehensive programs for 2023-2025 were signed to expand cooperation between Jizzakh and Issyk-kol, Andijan and Osh, Fergana and Botken, Namangan and Jalal-Abad regions.

According to "24kg" publication, the Deputy Prime Ministers of the two countries agreed on a joint project worth more than 1.5 billion dollars in the fields of mining, industrial cooperation, agricultural processing, energy, construction, infrastructure and other developed projects.

“The project amounts are staggering.  I am sure that they will be implemented in the near future and in full.  Of course, financing is required for the implementation of investment projects.  In this direction, we can use the potential of the Development Fund of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan," said Sadir Japarov.

Within the framework of the Japarov Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund, the establishment of cotton processing, textile production, trade and logistics centers in Jalalabad region, including in Kyzil-Kiya, as well as the construction of a number of small hydroelectric power stations for cotton processing in cooperation emphasized the importance of financing the joint venture.
