Deputy governor of Dehqanabad caught taking bribe

A criminal case has been launched against the deputy governor of Dehqanabad district in the Kashkadarya region. The incident was reported by the State Security Service of Uzbekistan.

According to the report, during an operation carried out by officers of the Kashkadarya regional department of the State Security Service, in cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office, the official was caught red-handed with material evidence. He had allegedly gained the trust of the head of a local farming enterprise and demanded a bribe totaling 21 million soums in exchange for cancelling the delivery requirement of 300 kilograms of cocoons for this year. It is stated that 7 million soums of the total amount were received directly in his office.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 (Fraud), Part 3, Clause “c”, and Article 28,211 (Bribery), Part 1 of the Criminal Code. A preventive measure in the form of arrest has been imposed, and investigative procedures are currently ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, an official of the Agricultural Department in Yangiarik district, Khorezm region, was detained for soliciting money in exchange for leasing land managed by the Forestry Department.
