Official detained in Kashkadarya for promising driver’s license in exchange for bribe

The deputy chairman of the regional council of the “Vatanparvar” organization in Karshi, Kashkadarya region, was detained while accepting a bribe, the State Security Service reported.

According to the investigation, the detention followed a citizen’s appeal to law enforcement. An urgent operation was carried out by officers of the State Security Service together with the territorial department of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.

The official was caught with material evidence while receiving 20 million soums in his office in exchange for promising to secure a driver’s license for the applicant’s son without an exam.

A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 3, Clause “c” of Article 168 (fraud) and Part 1 of Article 28,211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, an individual was arrested in the Khorezm region for providing fake diplomas to citizens.
