Pregnant woman loses child after alleged beating by husband and mother-in-law

On March 10 of this year, QALAMPIR.UZ received a complaint about a disturbing incident in the Chirakchi district of the Kashkadarya region. A 24-year-old woman allegedly lost her 4-month-old pregnancy after being beaten by her husband and mother-in-law. During the altercation, the woman’s 1.5-year-old child was also reportedly beaten.

According to the complainant, this is not the first time a woman has suffered violence in a domestic dispute. 

"A few years ago, a bride lost her 6-month-old pregnancy as a result of a fight. During the altercation, the woman’s stomach was touched," the source shared.

To investigate the incident, QALAMPIR.UZ reached out to the regional Department of Internal Affairs. The department’s press service confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the case.

“The Investigation Department of the Chirakchi district Internal Affairs Department is conducting pre-investigation procedures regarding this case,” the statement from the Internal Affairs Department said.

This incident adds to a troubling trend of domestic violence in the region, as earlier in Tashkent, a baby suffered severe burns to their hands and feet after a quarrel between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law escalated.
