6569The National Agency of Social Protection has been assigned new responsibilities, including the provision of burial allowances and the protection of women from oppression and violence. These changes were outlined in Law No. 977, which introduced amendments and additions to several legal documents, signed by the President on October 18.
One of the key provisions removes the requirement for a medical institution's conclusion to count care for elderly individuals aged 80 and older, who need assistance, toward the caregiver's length of service. Additionally, it allows elderly individuals in need of care, those living alone, and persons with disabilities to use city public transportation free of charge.
Furthermore, the law mandates that information about agreements concerning property transfer under lifelong care arrangements, lifetime leases, or distribution of a ward’s property must be submitted to "Inson" social service centers.
By the law, single elderly people in need of care, those living alone, and individuals with disabilities who have lost or invalid ID cards will be exempt from paying state duty when replacing biometric passports. Similarly, state duty will not be charged for temporarily registering individuals needing social protection by "Inson" social service centers.
Additionally, orphans and children deprived of parental care will be exempt from paying state duty for notarial actions to register housing purchased by the state in their names from the secondary market.
Moreover, funds allocated to support single elderly individuals, those living alone, and persons with disabilities will be considered deductible expenses when determining the tax base.
This law takes effect from the date of its official announcement.
As a reminder, earlier reports indicated that Uzbekistan will maintain a registry of individuals who have committed acts of harassment and violence. To further support victims of oppression during mental health crises, 24-hour primary care rooms will be established in emergency departments.
