Infantino wishes Uzbekistan national team success at World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino wished Uzbekistan’s national team success at the World Cup, he said on his Instagram page.

“My best wishes to Uzbekistan, who will make their historic debut on the world stage. We wish the team success in making their fans proud, writing a new chapter in history and showing the whole world what they are capable of,” the FIFA president said.

Uzbekistan will play a friendly match against the Netherlands today, June 8.

Earlier, on June 2, the national team also played a friendly against Canada. Fabio Cannavaro’s side lost that match 2-0.

Uzbekistan, which is taking part in the World Cup for the first time in its history, will play its opening match of the tournament against Colombia on June 18. The match will take place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico at 7:00 a.m. Tashkent time. Uzbekistan will then face Portugal on June 23 and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 27.
