False claims have been circulating that registration for the U.S. State Department’s Diversity Visa (DV-2027) Green Card lottery has begun. Following these reports, the State Department has issued an official warning.
According to the statement, misleading information is spreading online, including claims that the lottery registration has opened, as well as advertisements from individuals and visa service providers offering to “increase the chances of winning” or to submit a “guaranteed application.”
The U.S. State Department emphasized that all such claims are untrue.
“We are aware of fraudulent reports claiming that DV-2027 registration has begun, as well as individuals asserting they can influence the results. These claims are false,” the official statement said.
Any changes to registration dates and application procedures will be announced on the official website travel.state.gov. Applications can only be submitted through the program’s official portal, eDV. Using other websites or intermediaries poses a risk of losing personal information and money.
It is worth noting that earlier, the U.S. State Department announced changes to the application period and process for the Green Card 2027 lottery.
