Gazprom has signed long-term contracts for gas transit through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, effective until 2040, according to a report by Kommersant.

These agreements allow Gazprom to export up to 12 billion cubic meters of gas annually. Analysts note that this volume is significantly lower than Gazprom's contracts with European countries.

Alexey Miller, head of Gazprom, and Sanjar Jarkeshov, chairman of KazaqGaz, have signed long-term contracts for transporting Russian gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

These transit agreements with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will extend the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline and lead to the creation of new gas transportation infrastructure in Kazakhstan. Additionally, Gazprom Export has signed an agreement with Gazprom Kyrgyzstan LLC to supply gas to Kyrgyzstan.

In February 2024, the Uzbek government plans to modernize its main gas system to increase gas imports from Russia by 3.5 times, from 9 million to 32 million cubic meters. Although gas supplies to Kyrgyzstan are currently low, plans are in place to increase them.

Previously, there have been reports of active negotiations between Russia and Uzbekistan to significantly boost the supply of both gas and electricity to Uzbekistan.
