Uzbekistan reports 471 billion soums in losses from illegal energy use

Since the beginning of 2025, a total of 1,094 cases involving the illegal use of natural gas and electricity, as well as violations of related regulations, have been identified during control inspections. This was reported by the Inspectorate for Control of the Use of Electricity, Oil Products and Gas under the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the report, these violations resulted in damage amounting to 471.2 billion soums to the state’s interests.

In addition, 1,788 administrative cases have been initiated against consumers for violating rules on the use of energy resources.

It should be recalled that, starting from May 1 of this year, Uzbekistan introduced a year-round compensation system for gas and electricity payments to low-income families. Previously, compensation was only provided during the winter season (November to February); under the new system, it will now be paid every month throughout the year.
