Galina Saidova appointed Deputy Advisor to the President on Economic Policy

On July 30, by a presidential decree, Galina Karimovna Saidova was appointed Deputy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Economic Policy. The appointment was announced by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.

In connection with her new appointment, Saidova was relieved of her previous role as Deputy Advisor to the President on the Development of Economic Sectors, Implementation of Investment and Foreign Trade Policy.

Galina Saidova was born in 1956 in Samarkand. She graduated from the Samarkand Cooperative Institute and holds a Doctor of Economics degree and the academic title of Professor. From 1987 to 1991, she served as head of a department at the State Planning Committee of the Uzbek SSR. Between 2003 and 2006, she worked as the First Deputy Minister of Economy. She then led the Economic Research Center under the Cabinet of Ministers from 2008 to 2010.

In 2010–2011, Saidova held the post of Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade. From 2011 to 2017, she served as Minister of Economy of Uzbekistan, where she oversaw economic reforms, investment policy, and liberalization efforts. Since 2017, she has worked as Assistant State Advisor to the President on Socio-Economic Issues.

In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors of the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan Joint-Stock Company since September 2021, and in March 2024, she was appointed Chairwoman of the Board. Throughout her career, Saidova has actively contributed to key strategic projects related to economic reform, investment, and human capital development, playing a significant role in shaping Uzbekistan’s economic policies.

It is also worth noting that Pulat Razzaqovich Bobojonov was recently appointed Deputy Advisor to the President on Personnel.
