A deputy head of the district department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan in the Mirzacho‘l district of Jizzakh Region has been detained on suspicion of bribery. The State Security Service of Uzbekistan reported the case.

According to the report, the official allegedly abused his position during an inspection at a public catering establishment in the district center. After identifying fire safety violations, he reportedly demanded 3 million soums in exchange for not closing the facility and for refraining from forwarding the collected documents to court for legal action.

During a joint operation conducted by officers of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan and the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan, the suspect was detained while receiving the requested amount from the establishment’s manager, with material evidence secured.

A criminal case has been initiated against the official, and investigative actions are currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, in the Syrdarya Region, a man posing as an officer of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement was detained for taking 4 million soums in exchange for promising to settle a debt of 10.2 million soums related to enforcement proceedings.
