The director of the Pharmaceutical Network Development Agency was arrested

According to the results of a study conducted by the Anti-corruption Agency at the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Network and the State Unitary Enterprise “State Center for Expertise and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Products and Medical Equipment,” a criminal case has been initiated on cases of errors and omissions, as well as cases of gross violations of the established requirements for the spending of budget funds.  This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Investigations are currently underway by the investigative department of the State Security Service.  Also, a number of officials were arrested as part of the criminal investigation into the death of children diagnosed with “acute kidney failure” due to the side effects of “Dok-1 Max” and “Ambronol” syrup.

In particular, based on the collected evidence, Sardor Kariyev, director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Network and the State Center for Expertise and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment under it, and several of his criminal partners who were also involved in the aforementioned crimes were arrested on suspicion of the case and a preventive measure of imprisonment was applied to them.

During the initial investigation, complex investigative and rapid actions and appropriate expertise are being conducted to determine the circle of those responsible for importing and allowing the consumption of low-quality drugs in Uzbekistan, and to provide a legal assessment of their actions.
