Drug couriers attempting to transport narcotics from Tashkent to Fergana were apprehended in the Tashkent region. This was reported by the regional Main Department of Internal Affairs.

It was noted that large-scale anti-narcotics operations were carried out in the region. During the operation, a resident of Tashkent was caught retrieving "hashish" narcotics—smuggled from a neighboring country—from a hiding spot in the city of Bekabad. He intended to deliver the drugs to a buyer residing in the city of Kokand. Two other individuals accompanying him were also detained after attempting to flee the scene.

The investigation revealed that the narcotic substances had been previously buried by the courier.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code (illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and other actions with the intent to traffic narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances, as well as their illegal trafficking). Investigative procedures are currently underway.

It should be recalled that earlier, a man who transported 16 kilograms of narcotic drugs from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
