Individuals detained in Fergana for attempting to sell psychotropic drugs

An attempt to sell powerful psychotropic drugs was prevented in Kuvasay city of Fergana region, according to the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office.

Reportedly, during a joint operation carried out by the department’s Kuvasay branch in cooperation with the State Security Service (SSS) and the local police, unidentified individuals were found smuggling potent drugs through a metal water pipe running across the border area near the “Gulpiyon” mahalla, adjacent to the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of the operation, 233 vials of the psychotropic drug Tropicamide (10 ml each) were seized as physical evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 246 (Smuggling) and 251-1 (Illegal circulation, promotion, or distribution of potent substances not classified as narcotics or psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are currently underway.

Earlier, the illegal sale of uncertified medicines had been stopped in Bukhara district of Bukhara region.
