Psychotropic substances worth 1.3 billion sums seized in Fergana

A person attempting to bring potent pharmaceutical substances worth 1.3 billion Uzbek sums into the Fergana region has been detained. The Department for Combating Economic Crimes reported this.
According to the report, during an оператив operation, law enforcement officers detained an individual identified as A.Sh., who had been engaged in the illegal trade of potent medicines. The suspect had previously been convicted under Article 276 of the Criminal Code (illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, and other actions involving narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances without intent to distribute).
The detention took place at the Khoja Ilgor neighborhood customs checkpoint, where A.Sh. was caught while attempting to bring 9,542 units of a medicine called Zardex, containing potent substances, from the Kyrgyz Republic into Uzbekistan. The total estimated value of the seized medicines is 1.3 billion sums.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident under Article 223 (illegal exit from or entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan), Article 246 (smuggling), and Article 251-1 (illegal circulation, production, distribution, advertising, or promotion of products containing potent substances that are not classified as narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, as well as the illegal handling of such substances or toxic materials). Investigative actions are currently underway.
As a reminder, earlier individuals involved in delivering narcotic substances to buyers were detained in Tashkent city and the Fergana region.
