20647A marriage that took place in the Fergana region in August of this year ended just a week after the wedding due to disagreements. The bride appealed to the court, demanding the return of her dowry from the groom. This was reported by the Department of Fergana Region of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement.
Following the wedding, the groom began to express dissatisfaction with the bride's domestic skills, leading to frequent arguments where he would claim that she was not meeting his expectations. Just seven days after the wedding, the bride left to stay with her mother. When the groom's parents attempted to mediate with the bride's family, the bride made it clear that she no longer wished to live with the groom. After reconciliation efforts failed, the bride's family sought to reclaim the dowry, but the groom's family refused to return it.
Ultimately, the bride successfully retrieved about 60 items of property worth 47 million sums through the CEB.
The report noted that the groom's parents did not return the dowry voluntarily, arguing that the bride had left without justification and that they had spent $15,000 on the wedding, which they believed she should reimburse.
Previously, in the Jizzakh and Khorezm regions, brides have also reclaimed their dowry from their husband's homes through the CEB.
