Central Bank: No issues with old-style $100 notes

5409The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has confirmed that operations involving old-style $100 banknotes, issued before 2009, are being conducted without any issues by the country's banks. This clarification was provided following reports of concerns circulating on social media.
The Central Bank emphasized that the status of old-style $100 bills as legal tender has not changed, and they remain valid for use in any financial transaction.
The Central Bank has urged the public and businesses to disregard unverified information circulating online and to rely exclusively on official announcements for accurate updates.
"In case of any challenges related to the acceptance of old $100 banknotes by commercial bank exchange offices, individuals can reach out to the Central Bank’s Hotline at (71) 200-00-44 or contact regional branches for assistance," the report states.
The Central Bank assured that it is closely monitoring the situation to ensure smooth transactions involving old-style $100 banknotes.
Additionally, under the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Currency Regulation", the buying and selling of foreign currency by residents and non-residents are conducted solely through local banks.
