On January 21, during a regular meeting between Uzbekistan’s ambassadors and import-oriented entrepreneurs, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev stressed that ambassadors must be directly involved in addressing the problems faced by entrepreneurs seeking to enter foreign markets. A QALAMPIR.UZ journalist attending the meeting reported this.
According to Khojayev, ambassadors of foreign countries working in Uzbekistan actively and persistently defend the interests of businesspeople from their home countries. When issues arise, they do not limit themselves to contacts with ministries and agencies, but knock on every door, including that of the deputy prime minister.
“If necessary, they even lie down at my doorstep,” Khojayev said.
He added that he is personally ready to help ambassadors find the necessary partners, specialists, or directions whenever required.
The deputy prime minister also emphasized that ambassadors need to be properly “armed,” meaning they should work with concrete evidence, strong arguments, and official documents. He noted that issues must be studied on the ground, not superficially, but in a systematic and determined manner.
It is worth noting that earlier it was announced that export revenues from host countries, tourist inflows, and the number of citizens sent to legal jobs abroad would be set as key performance indicators (KPIs) for ambassadors.
