140682Animal species such as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, and camels, from which meat and other consumable products are derived in Uzbekistan, as well as animals that may pose a risk of disease transmission, are proposed for identification. Additionally, dogs and cats are suggested for identification to prevent the spread of diseases and ensure epizootic safety. This is outlined in the draft law "On the Identification, Registration, and Monitoring of Animals," which was considered and passed in the first reading at today's session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, held on September 17.
The draft law aims to implement a unified state policy on the identification of domestic animals, prevent infectious diseases among animals, and ensure food safety across the country.
It also proposes the creation of a unified electronic system for the accounting, breeding, and health monitoring of animals. The law outlines the rights and responsibilities of specialists in animal identification, registration, and monitoring, as well as manufacturers of identification tags and animal owners.
Proponents of the law argue that one of the key benefits of the animal identification system is that it helps ensure food safety. For this reason, species such as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, and camels, as well as animals that may pose disease risks, are to be identified, along with dogs and cats, to prevent disease and maintain epizootic peace.
"The adoption of this draft law will allow for the creation of a clear database for forecasting animal products in both domestic and foreign markets. It will also facilitate the acquisition of information about all products released for consumption, provide transparency on animal ownership and usage, and further guarantee property rights," the Legislative Chamber's statement noted.
