Erkinjon Turdimov confirmed as governor of Syrdarya region

Erkinjon Turdimov has been confirmed as the governor of Syrdarya Region. Today, 4 December, his nomination was approved by deputies during an extraordinary session of the Syrdarya Regional Council of People’s Deputies, held in the presence of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“We are working to ensure our people live well, that their children gain modern education and skills, and that incomes grow. I am confident that if we make a strong effort over the next year or two, Syrdarya will experience significant growth and development. To organize such work in the region, we need a determined, demanding, and competent leader who can quickly resolve issues affecting residents and entrepreneurs,” the President said.

During the session, organizational matters were discussed. The President noted that after consulting with residents and entrepreneurs, he had decided to recommend Erkinjon Turdimov, who was serving as acting governor, for the position of regional governor.

Following discussions with regional activists, the appointment was put to a vote. The results confirmed Erkinjon Turdimov as the governor of Syrdarya Region.

The new governor is expected to implement plans to develop Syrdarya, improve living standards, and transform the region into one of the most advanced in the country. Next year, priorities include attracting a total of three billion dollars in investment, increasing exports to 500 million dollars, and creating employment for 185,000 people.

For background, Erkinjon Turdimov was born on 10 July 1969 in Qo‘shrabot District, Samarkand Region. He graduated in 1991 from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy with a degree in economics. From 2018 until November 2024, he served as governor of Samarkand Region.

It is worth noting that earlier, Ulugbek Mavlonovich Mustafayev was confirmed as governor of Jizzakh Region.
